As a teenager, Chris White began drawing and writing in earnest but it wasn't until fifteen years later that he embarked on his career proper as an author and illustrator. His first poetry collection was published in 2000, after he decided to unearth his "scribblings" and unleash his weird world of warped characters on the children and adults of Britain (and further afield), in the form of Bitey the Veggie Vampire. Then, in 2001, his follow-up collection, Wang Foo the Kung Fu Shrew and Other Freaky Poems Too, was published to similar acclaim. Building on this popularity Chris penned The Armadillo Under My Pillow: Potty Poems for a Barmy Bedtime featuring a new bunch of crazy characters reflecting the surreal workings of the author's mind. Including some brilliant performance poems and effective cartoon illustrations, Chris's fun-packed roller-coaster rhyme ride continues. Shark in the Toilet! is the author's new book, due for launch in October 2004. As the title suggests, Chris continues in his quest to encourage young and not-so-young people everywhere to turn off the T.V. and tune in to their imagination. Take care, though, when delving into the wacky world of Chris White as you may encounter some slightly strange notions! When it comes to this author, the written word never remains lifelessly on a page but is cleverly transformed into an exciting, interactive poetry showcase. Both hugely entertaining and educational, Chris's performances have taken classrooms and libraries by storm and even been beamed into living rooms via Central T.V. - something well worth watching! Look out for a wacky Chris White performance somewhere near you! |
