Performance poet, author, musician and artist, Roger Stevens currently devotes most of his time to writing and in October 2001 saw his first book with The King's England Press, Vikings Don't Wear Pants, published, a collaboration with fellow poet Celia Warren. Vikings Don't Wear Pants delves into all the murky goings on of times past: how our ancestors managed before the advent of modern toilets; what a sore experience it was for Victorians to ride a penny farthing and whether or not Vikings wore underwear, to name but a few subjects mused about. With over fifiteen years' experience of teaching, Roger is well qualified in the art of determining children's reading tastes and devises workshops used in the many schools he visits which combine several aspects of creative writing, poetry and music. As well as Vikings Don't Wear Pants, Roger has written two published novels and been included in over fifty children's poetry anthologies. He has performed his material in schools, libraries, clubs and other venues all over the country and also runs The Poetry Zone, a successful web site enabling children to publish their own poems which attracts contributors worldwide. |
